Zeroes vs. Zeroes

Working long hours at a trade show this week. Doesn’t surprise me that I crashed without logging on to the computer for a couple of days. I knew this was a distinct possibility for this month since it’s been full of weird schedules and lots of questions about future work. Those zeros on my spreadsheet annoy me, but I’d rather zeros on the spreadsheet than zeros in my bank account when rent is due.

On the plus side, today was unsurprisingly slow at the trade show and I was stationed by myself, so I was able to work on some writing. They weren’t all great words in perfect order, but they were words helping me suss out how I want to frame a piece I’m working on, and that’s important, too. And they were handwritten because I didn’t want to risk bringing my laptop and having someone question why I was working on a computer when none was required for the job I was doing. But having a notebook and pen, old school styles, doesn’t raise suspicions in the sort of job I was doing, so it worked well. So now I have 642 words to transcribe and I’m already yawning up a storm so perhaps that will wait until tomorrow since I still owe an editor my bio and a glance over the edits he did, which he says were negligible but I still have to OK them. I love it when a story doesn’t need crazy edits, especially a story that’s already been published twice and is making its third way around in a different market. Go, little story, go!

My next day off is Monday. Hoping I’ll have more words written before then, but I’m also not sure since the trade show is wiping me out. Guess we’ll see what happens this week…
